Can A Low GI Diet Cure Your Acne?
If you have acne, you likely have heard a myriad of tales, ideas and theories of acne causes, but the end result is confusion. One recent study, however, sheds light on at least one acne topic – A Melbourne University in Australia (RMIT) recently determined that a high protein and low GI diet can dramatically decrease acne in the teenage boys it studied. The study seems to buck the commonly held notion that diet and acne are not related. Contrary to popular belief, experts have said often over the years, chocolate does not cause acne. But this study seems to prove that indeed, the quality of a diet and health of the skin are interconnected. .

A scrub is an important accessory to your skin care routine that speeds up natures process to remove dead skin. The use of scrubs will make your skin look healthy and fresh, creams will penetrate better and make-up will lay well. Scrubs are made for your face to your feet. Be sure to use the scrub made for that part of the body you want to remove dead skin. Basicly, the thicker the skin(hands and feet), the coarser the scrub. There are two types of scrubs for your face. A daily scrub to use daily such as Clinique's 7 Day scrub cream, will have finer granules. A scrub to be used once or twice a week such as Booth's Green Apple scrub, has granules similar to sugar. Dry chapped lips are a problem this time of year and can benefit by a very fine scrub just for lips by Crabtree&Evelyn, use according to directions.
Ease the pain of winter-ravaged lips
Anyone who's said it doesn't hurt to smile must not have had chapped lips. Chapped lips are basically an infl ammation of the lip itself and can occur for a variety of reasons, including exposure to wind, dry air, cold temperatures and the sun, said Stephanie Burleson, family medical physician with Utica Park Clinic Jenks. “Chapped lips can be a big problem when they get sore. They can interfere with eating, drinking, talking or other types of everyday things," she said. Breathing problems such as asthma that cause people to breath out of their mouth more than their nose can also trigger chapped lips, as can some medications. “Medications for acne, like Accutane, are notorious for drying lips," Burleson said. Heaters also affect the lips by causing the air to dry out.
Silverton may sue doc over laser treatment
LONDON, Jan. 28 British news presenter Kate Silverton is threatening to sue the doctor who conducted the laser skin-rejuvenation procedure that temporarily disfigured her. Silverton, 37, underwent the treatment to have acne scars removed and to improve her skin tone; however, her face ended up swollen and covered in painful sores and lumps, the Daily Telegraph reported. She was also forced to take two weeks off from her job at the BBC, the report said. Although Silverton is now back to work, she told her attorneys to begin proceedings against the Jan Stanek clinic in London. "It's been awful. I went in to get some minor scarring on my cheeks treated. I was told it would be a routine procedure and I'd be back to work in days. The treatment, however, caused a massive skin reaction," Silverton told the Telegraph.
Isolagen Modifies Ongoing Clinical Program For Acne Scars
FDA has provided follow-up on the Phase III program investigating Isolagen's Therapy for the treatment of moderate to severe acne scars. The FDA reiterated that there are no safety issues that would prevent the initiation of the proposed studies. However, the FDA asked the Company to further clarify certain protocol issues and raised questions related to the acne scar Evaluator Assessment Scale and Photo Guide. The FDA recommended that in order to address these issues, the Company should conduct a Phase II study; therefore, the Company will propose modifying the ongoing Phase III Study IT- A-008 as a Phase II/III study (as discussed further below). The FDA requests are specific to the acne scar clinical program and do not impact the Company's ongoing, pivotal Phase III clinical program evaluating the Isolagen Therapy for the treatment of nasolabial folds, or wrinkles.Isolagen's two randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled acne scar clinical trials (IT-A-008 and IT-A-009) of approximately 120 patients eachwere designed and powered as Phase III studies.
